How to choose oud

Oud is not one scent. It ranges from dark animalic smoke to golden honeyed woods. Start by naming how you want to feel after an hour — intimate, formal, or ceremonial.

On skin, give it twenty minutes. The top often misleads; the dry-down is where oud settles. If you prefer clean projection, look for saffron-lavender openings (like Oud for Glory styles). If you want sweetness, hunt honeyed woody profiles.

In Malaysia’s climate, stronger ouds bloom faster. Start with a light spray on fabric or hair if heat overwhelms you, then move to skin once you know the bottle.
